Writing

Thanks to the kindess of my friend Vanessa I had the opportunity to see David Sedaris speak and read some of his work yesterday in Ann Arbor. As i write this i really dont know what is proper to call the kind of event this was: Concert seems to elaborate, to "showy;" yet speech is definitely too mundane. It was an event, and a performance of sorts. Whatever you call it, it was phenomenal.

Sedaris is a contemporary commentator on the ways and means of 21st century life. He is both hilarious and poignant at once and i love it. So much.

For going on 20 years I have kept a fairly frequent journal of my life. My spiritual journey and my average day to day happenings, occasionally with a commentary of my own on modern events.

But i have gotten away from it. I can feel the lack of catharsis at times, my life dragging on with me like the parachute of a summer skydiver caught in a thunderstorm with a metereorologist scant in sight.

Yesterdays event has inspired me to write again, to write more, to capture every daily event that inspires me. I am inspired more than i let on. Inspired for good and indifference. Both have meaning, even the inspiration for not so good.

So here i am in writ, expressing the moment so i am accountable... If even to myself.
